Cipher update
Payeezy Gateway will update cipher support for TLS 1.2 connections to all subdomains of PROD and TEST domains to improve connection security for all clients. This is a corporate-wide, global change for any clients leveraging Payeezy Gateway Web-service API services.
These changes will only impact the Client/Server Hello/Handshake phase of SSL.
A Payeezy Gateway merchant can test TLS1.2 cipher connectivity using the Payeezy Gateway certification environment.
- No Payeezy Gateway certification environment account is required.
- Merchant can simply point their integration at the URL noted below. From there submitting a standard payload is all that is required.
https://api-crt.gateway.payeezytest.com/transaction/v#
- Payeezy Gateway API version number currently being called.
- If the merchant gets a ‘bad credentials’ response, that means success. Getting that message means that the TLS1.2 cipher negotiation was successful and that the merchant environment holds the proper ciphers. Response message: “Unauthorized request. Bad or missing credentials”.
- If the merchant gets a SSL/TLS handshake failure, that means the merchant API integration is using deprecated ciphers and would require an update to prevent a future production impact.
Here is the schedule for the environments:

Compliance Mandate for Mastercard/Discover Online Refund Updates.
Fiserv's Payeezy Gateway supports online Refunds for Mastercard/Discover. This allows merchants to adhere to the Mastercard/Discover Refund online compliance mandates.
The Payeezy Gateway default setting for Mastercard/Discover Online Refund allows merchants to adhere to these Mandates of completing Refunds online, this is option 2 listed below. Merchants have options to either accept or decline Payeezy Gateway logics to settle Refunds online on the merchants’ behalf
If the merchant has already adjusted the setting for Visa online, that same setting would take effect for Mastercard/Discover.
Option 1 allows merchants to be out of compliance with Mastercard/Discover Mandate to complete Mastercard/Discover refunds online.
- Disable Refund Authorization
- Meaning merchant opts out of Online Refund. This option places the merchant and Payeezy Gateway out-of-compliance.
Option 2 allows Payeezy Gateway to only settle Mastercard/Discover Online Refunds with approved responses from the card issuers. All rejected transactions will be handled by the merchant outside of Payeezy Gateway.
- Payeezy Gateway to settle approved refund authorizations only. Rejected refund authorizations to be handled by the merchant.
- Meaning merchant opts in for Payeezy Gateway to only settle Mastercard/Discover Refund Online Refund with approved responses from the card issuers. All rejected transactions will be handled by the merchant outside of Payeezy Gateway.
- Example: Original transaction took place under Payeezy Gateway, merchant needs to submit a Mastercard/Discover Online Refund.
- Scenario A
- Merchant submits Mastercard/Discover Refund, the Card Issuer approved the Refund, and Payeezy Gateway settles the Approved Refund transaction.
- Scenario B
- Merchant submits a refund, the Card Issuer either declined/rejected the refund request for any reason.
- Merchant will receive the response back from Payeezy Gateway with status of declined/rejected message.
- Merchant needs to submit a refund directly to the consumer, without going through Payeezy Gateway.
- Scenario A
Option 3 allows Payeezy Gateway to settle all refund authorizations regardless of the approved/declined/rejected status responses from the Card Issuers.
- Payeezy Gateway to settle all refund authorizations regardless of the approved/declined/rejected status.
- Meaning merchant opts in for Payeezy Gateway to settle all Mastercard/Discover Online Refund transactions, even if the Card Issuer had rejected transactions for any reason. Please be aware that Mastercard/Discover misused fees could apply to rejected/declined transactions. Recommend merchants consult their AM/RM/CSA in regards to possible fees association.
